Dancing in Puddles: A Poem of Grief and Longing
The children in my dreams
Dance deep in my heart,
Innocently splashing in the puddles
Of what could never start.
They dance in the puddles,
Born from my grief,
Forever they remain,
Twirling in a dream.
Stuck in a could-have-been,
But unknown to them,
They keep dancing in puddles,
Innocently playing inside their mommy’s head.
Unaware of the pain,
The heartache and fears,
They giggle and play,
In the depths of my tears.
No longer to be born,
Yet forever they stay,
In the echoes of dreams,
That life took away.
Their laughter a melody,
A bittersweet song,
In the garden of longing,
Where dreams prolong.
Though my body has forever changed,
My heart holds them tight,
In the shadows of sorrow,
They bring me light.
For in my dreams, they live,
Forever young and free,
Forever safe,
And a part of me.
